Across the vast territory of the Soviet Union, in addition to those already discovered, there are undoubtedly many as-yet-unexplored gas fields, including some extremely rich ones. Our natural gas industry is developing rapidly. We must organize gas production at a large number of new fields, establish a network of gas pipelines, supply cities and industrial centers with gas, provide the population with an affordable and ideal fuel, and organize the processing of gas into a range of important products. But to achieve this, we must learn how to drill for gas, extract gas from wells, and develop gas fields.
In their book, “Gas Production,” Strizhov and Khodanovitch attempted to systematize our and American experience in developing gas fields and derive the theoretical foundations for the rational development of gas fields and the operation of gas wells. The book “Gas Production” by Strizhov and Khodanovich first addressed such issues as: 1) regulating gas well flow rates and pressure; 2) determining a rational recovery rate; 3) gas production at a specific recovery rate; 4) gas well testing; 5) measuring gas well flow rates; 6) gas well characteristics; 7) gas field development; 8) well spacing, etc.
