Margulov’s textbook, “Nuclear Power Plants,” presents the theory of thermal power plants as applied to nuclear-fueled installations. It addresses issues common to all thermal power plants, both conventional and nuclear, as well as those specific to nuclear power plants.
Margulov’s textbook, “Nuclear Power Plants,” is based on a comprehensive review of extensive literature, both domestic and international, including that published since the second edition.
It is intended for students majoring in “Nuclear Power Plants and Installations” and can be used by engineers working in the design, commissioning, and operation of nuclear power plants.
This textbook, “Nuclear Power Plants,” is based on a lecture course created by the author for students majoring in “Nuclear Power Plants and Installations.” Its distinctive feature is its presentation of thermal power plant theory specifically for nuclear power plants, making the course more methodologically coherent. The high praise for the textbook, reflected in the award of the State Prize to the first edition and the VDNKh Honorary Diploma to the second edition, along with feedback from the scientific and technical community and university professors, prompted the retention of the previous general methodological structure and presentation of the theoretical portion of the course in this edition. Furthermore, by removing outdated information, the third edition includes new material that reflects the current state of development in nuclear energy.
As in previous editions, the main content of the course is presented in relation to water-cooled nuclear power plants—the past years have confirmed their leading position currently and in the near future. In addition to the main author, Candidate of Technical Sciences G. N. Morozov (§ V.1-V.3, IX.4, XVIII.3-XYII.4) and Candidate of Technical Sciences V. M. Zorin (Appendix) contributed to the manuscript. Chapter IV was jointly written by them.
